2021 Honda HRV Redesign
2021 Honda HRV Redesign– Honda has become one of the Japanese car manufacturers who always presents a variety of flagship models, both pemla, middle class and high priced premium cars. Even from various segments, Honda always records proud and satisfying sales, ranging from MPVs, SUVs, or crossovers or sports cars.
Now, there is a news that is quite surprising. Where, the manufacturer from the Land of Samurai reportedly will begin to stop the production of one of its models, namely HR-V. However, this is specifically in England, Turkey and Argentina. Of course, this news has drawn a lot of criticism from fans considering the HR-V itself has become one of the models that is quite popular in the global market, including in the United States.
However, Honda has a special reason. Which, the manufacturer itself states if this step is one of the indirect strategies that are deliberately done to strengthen the structure of the car business in the face of changes in the car industry around the world. In addition, Honda also has a target that the party and some of its partners want to optimize the allocation of car production and production capacity on a global basis.
However, once again that HR-V “lethal injection” will only be applied in England, Argentina, and Turkey alone. Whereas in other countries, including the USA, Honda claimed there were no plans yet.
On the other hand, in the USA itself, the Honda HR-V is one of the crossovers that is in demand by many consumers. The model is so modern and handsome, making it has its own market share in the global market, including the USA market. Therefore, it is unlikely that Honda will inject an HR-V off in the USA.
Globally, competition in the compact SUV segment is always widely discussed. Especially after the Honda Vezel or HR-V was born in 2013 ago, the Toyota CH-R must now share the market with him. In Japan alone, based on the Best Selling Car report, the Toyota CH-R in 2018 has sold 76,756 units, while the Honda HR-V has 59,629 units. While in Thailand both are slightly different, 13,262 units for CH-R and 12,309 units for HR-V in the same period.
Realizing the increasingly heated competition, Honda did not stay silent and was ready to launch the HR-V update model that has been strolling for 6 years without major changes.
Finally, the car built from the Honda Jazz platform was refreshed in early 2018 and then in Japan. Then streak in Southeast Asia and Indonesia in the 2018 edition of GIIAS.
But unfortunately, the change focuses on a mechanical heartbreaking only, because it answers future challenges regarding the development of cars that are environmentally friendly and have low emissions. Indeed the Honda HR-V actually has been offered in hybrid versions in several countries. The manufacturer provided him with an i-DCD electric motor which had an additional output of 29 hp and 160 Nm of torque at a thousand rpm. From the hybrid engine alloy, Honda recorded fuel consumption up to 25.6 km/liter, or more economical when compared to the gasoline version that can support the power of the 1,500 turbo engine with incised 17.6 km/liter.
To be more modern and considered to be serious about the global challenges, the HR-V hybrid will be replaced by the HR-V PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) with two electric motors that are more promising of powerful acceleration and the least consumption of gasoline.
As a result, the chassis has been revised to save the electric motor and battery. From this chassis overhaul, the wheelbase is longer. Then as if answering the current trends about the crossover which has a stern coupe, the latest HR-V will also have a similar rear shape, while still maintaining a hidden door handle model on its C pillar.
Outside the frame, the fascia will adopt the face of the Honda NSX but still not abandon the language of Honda’s solid wing face design. Reportedly on the bumper, there is a water dam on the right and left. If nothing gets in the way, it is estimated that the launch will be held in the first half of next year. Meanwhile, if in Indonesia, it seems to have to wait for a pause.
When stepping back, the Honda HR-V facelift just paved 8 months since it was launched in Japan, while this latest HR-V? Of course, it can be faster or longer than that time period.
2021 Honda HRV Engine
For the i-MMD engine series used today is still the second generation, while the third generation will be introduced in 2018. Then whether the Honda HR-V will use the third generation i-MMD engine? No, the Honda HR-V will use a fourth-generation i-MMD engine. The fourth-generation i-MMD engine itself is estimated to have a cost equivalent to the i-DCD engine in use today, but with the contribution of excellence as we mentioned before. The era of the i-DCD engine itself is rumored to be coming to an end, and will be injected to death in 2020.
Although using the latest generation i-MMD engine, using power from the Honda HR-V will still approve the 215 PS number, which is still related to the current engine power. But to maximize the use of two motors, the capacity of lithium-ion batteries is spent on increasing 48 cells to 60 cells. Estimated round of the third-generation Honda HR-V itself is rumored in the upcoming February 2021 with a bearing 1500 1500 cc i-VTEC engine which has now used two electric motors.
